Wills

Having a will under your name in Spain, as opposed to your country of origin, is a very important part of property ownership in this country. A foreign will is legal in Spain but it requires going through a very long process which could take up to 18 months before it is accepted in Spain.

If you want to make it easier, then it would be a good idea to do a will at a Spanish Notary's office so as to have a Spanish version of whatever document acts as a will in your normal country of residence.

The requirement for a Spanish will is not just for people who live here full or part time. Even if you own a property here and nearly never come out to use it, a Spanish will would be very useful and prevent a  bureaucratic nightmare.
